It is official: the face of Harriet Tubman, the brave, defiant and inspiring abolitionist of 19th century America, will be in the face of the U.S. $20 bill by 2020, replacing the long-time face of Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States.
But a recent report said that this is no cause for outright celebration since the fight to give the proper honor to Tubman isn't over yet.
The report claimed that there is no likeness of the woman on the Mall and no one will find the African American born in Maryland among the heroes honored in the U.S. Capitol.
But another report tells a different twist to the story. This report indicates that Trump, the front-runner in the current U.S. presidential race purportedly said that Tubman on the $20 bill is "pure political correctness."
Trump, the report said, thinks Harriet Tubman is "fantastic" - but the initiative to have her replace Andrew Jackson is for political reasons.
"Well, Andrew Jackson had a great history, and I think it's very rough when you take somebody off the bill," said Trump in a town hall meeting aired on the "Today" show on NBC Thursday morning.
"I think Harriet Tubman is fantastic, but I would love to leave Andrew Jackson or see if we can maybe come up with another denomination," Trump added.
Still, another report added a more controversial twist to the story by having its headline banner say "Replacing Andrew Jackson with the Harriet Tubman Myth," suggesting that the supposed heroics performed by Tubman are just fairytale.
This report went on to say: "The problem however, is that Harriet Tubman was an illiterate woman who did not write down her story. Her life is myth, misinfo & exaggeration taught as fact in public schools. Her story is a fabrication, promoted as truth. No historical evidence exists to back up the over the top claims about Harriet Tubman's life. It's just a fact."
So, which report would you believe?
