U.S. Election 2016 News: President Obama Warns Donald Trump And Voters

In recent U.S. election 2016 news, President Barrack Obama issues a warning to Donald Trump. He also urged voters to scrutinize and examine every candidate's policies.

CBS News reported that President Obama warned both Donald Trump and voters to take the U.S. election 2016 seriously on Friday. This comes after he was asked to share his thoughts on the GOP nominee.

"We are in serious times and this is a really serious job," Obama said. "This is not entertainment. This is not a reality show. This is a contest for the presidency of the United States."

The president also advised voters as well as the media to take Trumps past statements seriously. Obama added that every candidate should be subjected to "exacting standards" and "genuine scrutiny."

Moreover, each candidate's proposed solution to an issue or policy should be checked for plausibility. "If they take a position on international issues that could threaten war or has the potential of upending our critical relationships with other countries or need to break the financial system, that needs to be reported on," Obama explained.

According to TIME, President Obama is one of the "loudest voices" that has questioned Donald Trump's positions and policies in the U.S. election 2016 presidential race. He has also commented on Speaker of the House of Representatives Paul Ryan's statement about how he is not endorsing Trump's candidacy yet.

Meanwhile, former Florida Governor and senior Republican Jeb Bush has announced on Facebook that he will not vote for Donald Trump. Reuters described it as "one of the sharpest slights" against the real estate magnate.

"Donald Trump has not demonstrated that temperament or strength of character," Bush wrote. "He has not displayed a respect for the Constitution. And, he is not a consistent conservative. These are all reasons why I cannot support his candidacy."

Bush has admitted that he won't vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as well. Other Republicans refusing to support Trump are U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney.
