Kesha Allowed By Dr. Luke To Perform At Billboard Music Awards

Kesha's legions of fans may now breathe a collective sigh of relief as Kemosabe Records greenlights her to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. The label had decided to reverse an earlier decision barring the artist from performing in fear of her highlighting an ongoing lawsuit between the 2 parties as reported by TMZ but denied by Kesha.

The recording label's released a statement that read: "Kesha's performance on the Billboard Music Awards was always approved, in good faith. Approval was only suspended when Kemosabe learned Kesha was to use the performance as a platform to discuss the litigation,"

"Now that Kemosabe has obtained assurances, that it is relying upon, from Kesha, her representatives and Dick Clark Productions that neither Kesha nor her supporters will use the performance as such a platform, the approval has been restored."

The ongoing legal entanglements, stretching as far back as October of 2014, has Kesha (Kesha Sebert), on her end, filing 2 civil lawsuits (New York and California) against Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald who owns Kemosabe Records under the umbrella of Sony Music Entertainment) with various charges of sexual and emotional abuses, negligent infliction of emotional distress, retention and supervision, among others faced off with a countersuit for defamation and extortion to release the artist from an exclusive recording contract from the end of the record label. Counting the video depositions that got involved with the legal battle further stretches back the troubles to 2011.

Among her many defenders were her fans who'd come up with over 10,000 signatures on a petition to "release Kesha" in 2013. Big name artists George Takei, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Zedd among many others voiced their support for her as well.

The dismissal by New York Judge Kornreich of Kesha's claims in April 6, 2016 had sparked both concern and anger with both fans and artists.

Dr. Luke wins the lawsuit. Kesha gets to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. Both parties have won their respective victories albeit smaller one on Kesha's part.

In celebration of the approval, the singer posted a picture note on Instagram which read:

"You and I are more than friends" "We're like a really small gang"

And she'd captioned it: "Good work animals. Looks like our voices can be heard after all."
