The Taylor Swift online prank started with Charles Z, a Uzbekistan 39-year-old man who entered into Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan contest, but due to being rigged by anonymous groups on 4Chan and Reddit, he had been taken away from the grand prize.
4Chan, an imageboard that stemmed from Japan's 2ch, rigged the contest to nominate a "creepy 39-year-old [who] would like to crush all those little girls' dreams." Boston's Kiss 108 found that the "integrity of the 'Taylor Swift's Biggest Fan' contest has been compromised," and has disqualified Charles Z from meeting his "Animal House poster on the wall in the dorm room of my heart."
After the board and the users on Reddit discovered another contest, "Who is Selena Gomez's Biggest Fan?", Charles Z was nominated to 3rd place, but didn't win the contest. He himself did not enter the contest apparently, according to his tweet: 'I just Googled Selena Gomez.'
Recently, Charles Z got onto another contest to meet the Jonas Brothers. He replied on Twitter: '@mona_tone A. I have no idea how I got in that contest B. One of them dated @taylorswift13, so he’s dead to me. C. FINE' Joe Jonas, one of the trio had dated Taylor Swift. They have since broken up, but Charles Z is still not foregoing that grudge. "I don't know what a Jonas brother even is. @taylorswift13 on the other hand is an ice cream cake made of heartbreak anthems sunshine."
The Uzbekistan 39-year-old lives in the capital called Tashkent, in the district of Chilonzor. He responded to 4Chan's critical description of himself, calling himself the exact opposite: "You say 'creepy' I say 'weirdly handsome'."
Before this Taylor Swift online prank, there was another contest begin rigged. When 4Chan found out that the '22' singer was supposed to perform at the most voted school, they made it their responsibility to overpower the contest and uprooted the Horace Mann School of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. When the contest was shut down, Selena Gomez's best friend donated $10,000 to the school as a courtesy.
