'Pokemon Go' Is At A Lost; Niantic Slow to The Rescue

"Pokemon Go" is starting to take a massive dip in both user count and fanfare. And a lot of fans are clamoring for game maker Niantic to start doing something to give "Pokemon Go" another jolt.

The game seems to have lost some of the magic it concocted when it was first launched some months ago. People where on the prowl to catch Pokemon and the overall buzz about the game was just electrifying.

A lot of disappointment from fans can easily be summed up just by looking at the "Pokemon Go" Reddit posts. What started out as easily one of the most innovative games around suddenly stopped developing any groundbreaking updates for its players.

Fans have been noticing that Niantic has been using most of its resources focusing on shutting down third party trackers. A lot has been complaining not just regarding the game's inability to create more modes but also some things that Pokemon stopped going.

One Reddit user summed up what others have been feeling regarding the game in his post:

"There are a lot of reasons why the game is not social anymore:

  1. They lost a LOT of players. Not sure what the numbers are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they lost 90% of their peak.
  2. After the first month or two, most players had caught most of what they needed and weren't on the hunt as much.
  3. The free lures ran out, so the hotspots died.
  4. With no tracker, there's less motivation to explore.

For a while, it was my nightly routine to go down to a nearby park and chill with 10+ players on a few lures. That hasn't happened since August."

It is quite weird that "Pokemon Go" would start eliminating features that made the game such a communal success. Time will tell if Niantic could right the ship and lure people back to the game.
