Apple releases 10.1 iOS: Fixes A Major Security Risk; Finally Gets New Portrait Mode

Apple has recently launched it's 10.1 iOS update and users should immediately download it. The new update addresses a major security risk as well as introducing a new Portrait Mode feature for the camera.

Apple immediately went to work and has fixed a security risk that could allow a hacker to control someone else's iPhone. The hack can enable the intruder to run commands without the owner's consent. What is worst is that the owner of the phone does not even have to download anything, all the attacker needs to do is to make the victim view a malicious JPEG file.

Be sure to immediately download the new update as soon as you can to avoid any inconvenience.

On the features side of things, Apple has finally updated the camera of the iPhone 7 plus to include the much talked about Portrait Mode. It's a new feature that will make use of the iPhone 7's two lenses to create a beautiful blur between the subject and the background.

It will try to mimic the effect of a telephoto lens that zooms in on a subject. The depth of scene effect was not yet available at launch and people have been waiting for it now. This is supposed to make selfies and portrait shots have that professional photo quality in them.

Besides these crucial and exciting features, the iOS 10.1 will also include a few more minor changes. It will fix a lot of connectivity and known syncing problems, a bulk of Apple Watch feature, and the ability to replay the new animations for Messages.

To manually download the new software, just do the following steps:

Go to Settings then press General and then Software Update. Be sure that your iPhone is already up to date or you won't see the i0S 10.1 update.
