Microsoft Xbox One Scorpio Latest News: The Tech Giant Takes Things In Stride, Not Rushing Its Next Flagship Gaming Device

Almost all gaming companies are in a race against time to deliver goods in time for the holiday season, projecting that most of the sales may occur in the next months to come. One of the hottest trends revolves around virtual reality, an arena where PSVR, HTC Vive, and Oculus Rift are waging war amongst each other. This line of thinking apparently isn't shared by Microsoft in conceiving Project Scorpio.

In an article in Express, it is stated that Sony's PlayStation VR may be the only VR-capable console in the near future. Microsoft chooses to play the waiting game until such time that virtual reality gains mainstream popularity.

Microsoft's Phil Spencer explained that VR is indeed a breakthrough in gaming, but the creators need time to perfect the craft. He further elaborated by saying he realizes the potential of VR, like in taking the players to places they never thought possible, which is why the technology is here to stay. As a matter of fact, The Xbox One Scorpio is "designed as a VR-capable console," Spencer adds.

It is not just the plan on virtual reality gaming that Microsoft is taking things slow. It is doing the same in the way it creates its products, indicating that there is currently no plan of what to do next after Project Scorpio is finished.

Spencer clarified this by stating the company doesn't wish to make new consoles every two years, as this doesn't help anyone at all. He further points out that the best customer he could hope for is someone who buys the console and gets all games compatible with it. He sees the mentioned scenario as a more sustainable source of revenue rather than introducing new products every now and then, which some companies gain little to no profit at all, Metro reports.

When he was asked if there are any plans of creating Scorpio-exclusive games in the future, he simply said there is no guarantee as nothing is on the drawing board yet.

As is seen, it appears Microsoft is currently operating on the principle of observing how the market moves, which may or may not be a good business decision. Only time will tell how it would turn out.

The Xbox One Scorpio is set to be released by Dec. 2017, although it may happen earlier.
