‘Doctor Who’ Season 10: Peter Capaldi Returns This Year For Christmas Special

Whovians, Peter Capaldi will return as the Doctor for this year's Christmas Special.

It's been almost a year since fans have seen the Doctor on screen. Peter Capaldi, 12th Doctor, last appeared on The Husbands of River Song alongside Alex Kingston, who plays the posthumous character in December 2015.

Wired reported that BBC hold off Season 10 for 2016.  Doctor Who Season 10 will return in 2017 with a new companion Bill, played by Pearl Mackie.

Pearl Mackie will be taking over as the companion of the Doctor after Jenna Coleman's departure to the legendary show. Aside from Missy, there will be a new mysterious figure called The Landlord, played by David Suchet.

Capaldi said that in Season 10, The Doctor will be on the forefront of a cosmic battlefield against an awful thread. Radio Times reported that Steven Moffats's farewell series will include some serious bang. Chris Chibnall, creator of Broadchurch,  will be taking over Moffat as the series' head writer.

The Christmas Special will showcase the Doctor and Nardole teaming up to solve New York from an alien invasion. An investigative reporter, played by Charity Wakefield, and a masked vigilante, played by Justin Chatwick. will be helping The Doctor on this Christmas Special.

It will be titled as "The Return of Doctor Mysterio". It showcased other actors like Adetomina Edun, Aleksandar Javanovic and Logan Hoffman, BBC reported.

There will also be a sneak peak on the Children In Need on November 18. There has been no report of what the clip will be.

However, fans are hopeful to see how Doctor Who and the superhero will unite. There has been a released photo of Chatwin in his superhero costume.

Doctor Who has been part of the Children In Need program over the past years. They created Born Again and Time Crash to bring in donations for the program.
