Newest Viral Video: ‘Mannequin Challenge’ Dominates US, Beats ‘Trumpets’ and ‘PPAP’!

Move over "Trumpets" and "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen"! The newest viral video "Mannequin Challenge" recently dominated the social media in the United States.

As reported by the New York Times, unlike the previously followed craze "Ice Bucket Challenge", "Planking", and others, this recent viral video shows groups of individuals meeting and standing still in one place-usually with choreographed poses and epic scenes. And while the group stops and poses like mannequins, the one who records the scene zooms in and zooms out for details.

Some teenage groups already uploaded their version of the challenge online including the women's gymnastics team of Bringham Young University. As posted on their official Facebook account @BYU, gymnasts all clad in blue uniform, suddenly froze in place as their videographer took the footage. Some were even suspended on bars, beams, and mats!

Former Romanian gymnast Aurelia Dobre's twins Lucas and Marcus also uploaded his version of the challenge. But if you think only teens signed up for this, sorry to burst your bubble but no. Even the New York Giants and TCU Football Team also said, "Challenge Accepted!"

Most of the videos uploaded used Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles". Like the songs popularly used for previous craze or viral videos, "Black Beatles" seems to be termed as the unofficial song for the meme.

While teens and even adult are still going gaga about the #MannequinChallenge, many versions are continuously uploaded on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. Some teams including Pennsylvania State Football, Gateway High School, and Ontario High School also mimicked the creative and fun challenge with their teams.

Since the challenge doesn't require excessive dance movements, compared to #TrumpetChallenge and Kosaka Daimaou's #PPAP, grown-ups were also enticed to replicate it. From students, artists, celebrities, athletes and more, #MannequinChallenge will surely hit your group soon!
