'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Recap: An Eternity of Misery; Tyler's Death Confirmed; Matt Donovan Returns With A Bang!

"The Vampire Diaries" is back with season 8 and the fourth episode just aired on November 11. If you have not seen it yet, you better get to it because spoilers are ahead.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 episode 4 "An Eternity of Misery" gives us a spicy Matt Donovan return with a bang. Literally. Plus he has a hot new haircut. Matt Donovan is back and with him the knowledge that the family heirloom is actually in the hands of his long-lost father.

Our beloved Matt who has stayed human for the last eight seasons returned, guns blazing and shooting Damon right in the abdominals. Talk about making an entrance. Apparently, Matt has good reason to shoot bad boy Damon and he definitely deserves more pain for what he did.

Last night's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" confirmed what fans have been fearing since the previous episode left them hanging. 'Is Tyler Lockwood Dead?' - The question many fans have had in their minds, and now it is answered. Episode 4 "An Eternity of Misery" confirms that our sexy ex-hybrid is very much dead. To make matters worse, it was by Damon's hand.

Fans are in a state of shock, devastation, and confusion. What is worse? Tyler biting the dust or the fact that Damon just committed the biggest sin of them all? Matt finds out the death of his best friend in a heartbreaking way. As he is busy torturing Damon, the vampire lies and tells him that Tyler is still alive, just to get him to stop with the sadistic whips of love.

Damon's not-so-white lie gave everyone false hope. But alas, no one can stay alive after what Tyler went through. Matt rushed to the scene just as Damon instructed, and there he found Tyler's cold body, stuffed in a trunk. Definitely dead. Very Dead. Matt's reaction was as priceless as it was heartbreaking when he dropped down to his knees and cried his grief to the ground.

Once Matt dried up his tear-stained face, he will surely let the rest of the group know. Damon basically undid every good deed he every did in the past eight seasons. So much for his redemption.

In a previous report we mentioned that Nina Dobrev is returning for the eighth season of "The Vampire Diaries." If it is, in fact, Elena returning and not Katherine what will the murder of Tyler Lockwood mean for their already bumpy relationship? Did Damon just throw away any chance he had of getting Elena back?
