'Hyouka' Live Action Film To Arrive In 2017; Featuring Kento Yamazaki & Alice Hirose!

Makers of the live-action film "Hyouka" based from Honobu Yonezawa's mystery novel of the same name announced that the release date of the movie will be next year. They also confirmed the two lead roles that will star on the film, namely Kento Yamazaki who will play the protagonist Hotaro Oreki and Alice Hirose to play Eru Chitanda. The film will be under the direction of Mari Asato.

"Hyouka" revolves a boy named Hotaro Oreki, a guy who seems to lack motivation to anything unless there's no other choice and Eru Chitanda who despite of her outstanding academic abilities, relies on Oreki's reasoning abilities in order to satiate her curiosity.

The story started when Oreki was ordered by his older sister to join the classic literature club to stop it from being abolished. While in the club; he gets involved in a mysterious incident, involving Chitanda's uncle, which happened 33 years ago. Together the "energy-saving" Oreki and Chitanda went into an investigation to unravel the events of the past.

The original novel, "Hyouka" was published by Yonezawa in 2001. In 2012, "Hyouka" was given an anime adaptation that was aired by Kyoto Animation that lasted into 22-episodes. It was also given a manga adaptation within Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine that Taskohna illustrated.

"The character from the story itself has a trait of being mysterious. Therefore, I would like to enjoy playing the role of Oreki. I would like to be careful in playing his role through my emotions and movement that I will convey," said the producer favorite Yamazaki Kento.

The story in the anime is set in Kamiyama City, a fictional city in Gifu Prefecture which is inspired from Yonezawa's real hometown of Takayama, also in Gifu. The fictional Kamiyama High School is also based upon the real life Hida High Schoolin in the same prefecture. With this in mind, we can expect that the movie will be shot in the aforementioned town.
