Canada is facing an expected shortage of more than 200,000 information, communications and technology workers. There is hope that Trump's victory will serve as a solution to the shortage of workers in Canada's technology sector.
Some Canadians believe that Trump's victory may lay foundation of new era of technological development in Canada. The city of Ottawa is promising to make it easier for skilled foreigners to migrate to Canada, Trump's victory should lead to a flood of inbound programmers and seasoned executives to help companies improve.
According to Quartz, it is estimated that by 2019 there will be one hundred and eighty two thousand (182,000) job openings in Canada's technology sector and there are no Canadians to fill the vacancies. Thus, Trump's presidency is likely to benefit technological firms in Canada since he has a big interest in developing infrastructure and technology.
Emigration of foreign workers are not only narrowing in the US but also in the UK. The desire and June Brexit decision is to tighten the UK border and restrict the flow of migrants, will in a long run give room for Canada's technology sphere to flourish due to increase of work force inform of immigrants. On November 8th, the rate of Americans in need to migrate to Canada increased greatly and was noted through the immigration website of Canada.
According to Yahoo, The need for workers in Canada is currently high and this has made some employers to unite with the Canadian government to launch 'Go North Canada' which is an initiative to convince more than 350,000 Canadians who work in Silicon Valley and other parts of the US to come back home
New strategies are expected to be used by Trudeau's government to make it easier for companies to recruit foreign employees specialized or talented in technological issues. One of the tactics that will be used is quick issuing of the work permits for the foreigners in Canada that will take nine months which is different from the US visa that takes 6 months to set up.
Though it's too early to determine whether the planned immigration strategies will work and simplify the recruiting of foreign workers, the Canadian attractive technological scene is expected to attract many foreign workers. Hence it will be no surprise if we see the immigration numbers to Canada rising over the next few months.
