TWENTY-YEAR-OLD HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SCHOOL SHOOTING IN GEORGIA [VIDEO & REPORT]

Twenty-year old Michael Brandon Hill was arrested Tuesday in and was held responsible for the school shooting Ronald E. Mc Nair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia.

Hill fired at least half a dozen shots from his assault rifle from inside the school. He was firing at officers swarmed outside the campus. There was an exchange of gunfire between Hill and members of the police force before he surrendered.

Hill was seen firing into the air. When members of the DeKalb County Police saw that he was alone and they had a clear shot of Hill, they returned the fire. Because of the exchange of fire, Hill was forced to go inside the building but continued firing at police officers who swarmed outside the campus. Hill fired more than half a dozen shots from his assault rifle. After he went into the school building, Hill dropped his weapon and surrendered. Police Chief Cedric L. Alexander said in a press conference that several weapons were found in the possession of Hill however it is not certain how many weapons he was armed with. He also said that Hill had no motive on the foiled school shooting.

The exchange of gunfire was captured by media and footage of students being evacuated from the building, escorted by teachers and police were also captured.

Eight hundred students from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade were removed from the scene. They all sat along a fence in a field as they waited for school buses that would bring them to a nearby Wal-Mart where their parents were waiting. The crowd gathered at the Wal-Mart cheered when the first bus arrived that would transport the children out of the school premises arrived.

"The gunman may have slipped inside behind someone authorized to be there," Alexander said when asked on how the gunman was able to pass through the school's alarm system.

ill is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and terroristic threats. A possible court date is yet to be scheduled. There was no one injured in the shooting.
