AFTER FORTY-TWO YEARS OF BEING TOGETHER, TOMLIN AND PARTNER FINALLY PLAN TO EXCHANGE I DO'S [VIDEO & REPORT]

Now that the Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage, comedienne Lily Tomlin is thinking of tying the knot with partner for forty-two years, Jane Wagner.

The seventy-three year-old comedian who became famous for her stint on Saturday Night Live in the seventies revealed in an interview with E! Online, that she and partner Jane Wagner, seventy-eight years old are ready to become a legally bound couple. Their relationship has been one of the longest relationships in Hollywood and their ready to make it legal and official.

The Desperate Housewives star met Wagner in 1971. They worked on a comedy album together when Tomlin invited Wagner, a writer, to collaborate with her, and have been involved with each other ever since. Tomlin admits that she was smitten by Wagner right away and that their personalities just "sort of clicked".

"We're thinking maybe we'll get married," Tomlin said. According to the comedy icon there really is no need to get married but being married is nice and that everybody she knows who tied the knot say that marriage makes a difference and that all the people she knew that got married feel very happy about it.

She and Wagner never imagined that same sex marriages will be made legal in their lifetime. They didn't think legalizing same sex marriages would be allowed by law and they are both delighted that they are now given the opportunity to formalize their relationship "It's pretty remarkable," she said.

While Tomlin revealed possibilities of exchanging "I do's" with Wagner they do not see the possibility of doing it the traditional way. They have been sharing four decades of fun time together and they intend their wedding to reflect all the forty years of fun and humor that they spent together "No rings, no bridal dresses, maybe we'll be dressed like chickens," she chided.
