'Pokemon Go' Ending? Not After Winning Google Play's 'Best Game' Of 2016

Niantic Labs gave out a big hooray as "Pokemon Go" bagged the "Best Game" title in the top trending games of Google Play.

Although it has only been released late this year, "Pokemon Go" has not only made it to the cut but even topped it in Google Play Store's A-list. What other game would have made it if not this craze that broke the barriers between the world of reality and the virtual world?

Since its big hit months ago, both gamers and non-gamers have been eager to experience the "augmented reality" brought about by the search for Pikachu and the rest of the gang. The catch is it still has not ended for some until they find all Pokemon in all of its existing generations, according to Venture Beat.

Who could forget that this game did not only become viral worldwide but also caused a huge controversy as many of the hooked players were reported as injured due to their "quest" for the rarest Pokemon and Pokemon gyms. It has to be mentioned as well how big this has become in worldwide comic conventions too, per CNET.

The sales of Pokemon merchandise ranging from Pikachu stuffed toys to hard-plastic Pokeballs have gone overboard as well. Now that the holiday season has begun, a lot of moms and dads are still looking to give the little kids such merch as Santa's gifts.

Even after a couple of months, a lot of players all over the world can still be seen out in the strangest places-museums, fountains, post offices-seriously staring at their phones while tapping them endlessly with delighted faces. They sure are "Pokemon Goers."

This is obviously no surprise for both Niantic Labs and the fans, but it still is a cause for celebration. It is a hard-earned but undoubted title. Hats off to the brains of "Pokemon Go"!
