Man Declared Dead for 45 Minutes: Cardiologist Says'There's No Medical Explanation' [VIDEO & REPORT]

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio - Diesel Mechanic Tony Yahle's heart was pronounced dead after his heart stopped on August 5; 45 minutes later he came back to life as though nothing had happened.

The 37-year-old man's near-death experience baffled medical practitioners, especially when his heart started to beat again - after remaining indefinitely cold, breathless, and pulseless - just in time when they were about to inform his family of his demise.

"In the last 20 years, I've never seen anybody we have pronounced dead ... and then for him to come back ... I've never seen it," Kettering Medical Center Cardiologist Dr. Raja Nazir said. "Nobody really has an explanation for it... medically anyway," he added.

Having no health-related problems earlier, the Ohio man, who was declared dead for 45 minutes, was rushed to the hospital after his wife noticed his breathing was off and his pulse, absent, at around 4 a.m. that day. Though doctors tried everything to revive his unstable heart, he was pronounced dead for less than an hour.

The nurses were preparing his body for viewing of his family when Tony Yahle began to show vital signs once again.

Tony's son, 17-year-old Lawrence, came rushing into the room when his dad had died. "I pointed at him and I said, 'Dad, you're not going to die today.' I stood there for about a few more seconds. I was about to walk back to comfort the family," the teen recalled. "It went from hopeless to hope in an instant."

The Ohio man was then flown via a helicopter to the Ohio State University medical Center, where he stayed for five more days to recuperate completely. His cardiologist and doctors are still not sure as to what really happened.

Nazir shared that the incident involving the man who was declared dead for 45 minutes has been the hot topic of their discussions lately. "Since then I've really shared this experience with a lot of my colleagues and none of them have ever really heard of this kind of coming back."

On the other hand, Tony Yahle believes that it was due to the divine intervention that his heart began to function again.

"It definitely strengthen my faith, my family's faith... Everybody I know's faith. And like I said, if it strengthens everybody's faith then I'll take the lumps for it," Yahle expressed.

Tony Yahle safely returned to his family and his home with a defibrillator on his chest. He says he is feeling better and is already planning to resume his work on Monday.
