Director of 'The Last of Us' Will Not Make a Role for the Following Sequel

"The Last of Us" and "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," game director Bruce Stanley, will not have the same role on recently confirmed sequel, "The Last of Us Part: II."

According to Kotaku, Bruce Straley was on a year-long sabbatical, rejuvenating his creative juices and getting his bearings after putting in a lot of work over the last few years as a director by releasing "Uncharted 4" and "The Last of Us." On Sunday morning, Sony confirmed in a statement that Straley is taking some "much deserved time off." and will not be returning for the sequel. "Bruce recently decided to take some much deserved time off after shipping two critically acclaimed games in the last few years," the company said. "He's looking forward to returning to the studio soon and jumping back in on his next project." Sony sent this statement to Kotaku. It's not clear yet with "The Last of Us Part 2," or if there "next project" will serve another role by Bruce Straley.

Straley colleague Neil Druckmann, in developing Naughty Dog, revealed that he and Stanley had created such brand new sci-fi and fantasy games as well as the making of prototypes for the upcoming sequel: The Last of Us Part 2, stated last year. But it's confirmed now, that The Last of Us Part 2 will be directed by Druckmann in Straley's stead.

Last weekend in Anaheim California, as part of PlayStation Experience, Naughty dog announced that The Last of Us Part 2 will feature the first game's Joel and Ellie, but will take several years down the line.

While "The Last of Us 2" game has no release date and described as "long ways off", but Druckmann confirmed more details are promised in the coming months - and possibly a contradiction to the original's tale of love: "This story is about hate", Druckmann explained.
