'Steven Universe' Is Not Cancelled...YET. Show Only on Winter Hiatus

Fans of "Steven Universe" are clamoring for more of the animated series as it goes into its hiatus. The Winter finale entitled "Three Gems and a Baby" aired on December 1 signaling the start of the period when fans will be kept in the dark about their favorite series.

On behalf fans, MovieNewsGuide expressed hope that the show will be back with about four episodes in January just like it did before. However, Cartoon Network has not released any official announcement on the next episodes for the season.

This uncertainty is buffering rumors that the show may be getting the ax, as Jobs and Hire featured in an article in November. The low ratings of the episode entitled "The Gem Harvest" as pointed out by the Parent Herald may be contributing to this. Enstars quoted the show's creator, Rebecca Sugar, saying that there are questions about season 5 were to be the last if the show were to continue on to season 5 at all.  iTech Post reassures fans, however, that the show is still safe for now.

While the show has been known to take a break during winter, fans are reeling after an emotional episode. NewsEveryday calls the episode a "heartwarming narration" that tells of how Greg spent his first winter with the baby Steven. While Greg struggled with being a new dad, the Gems tried to help by showering the baby with gifts. It turns out that none of them had any idea about caring for babies. The Gems even tried to take Steven to try to take the gem out of him but they decided against it because they did not want to hurt him. In the end, Greg and the Gems found out that love will see them through the adventures of parenthood.

On the upside, the comic series will be launched in February through Boom! According to Den of the Geek, the first issue will feature fan favorites Lapis and Peridot with Steven saving a baby bird.
