‘Collateral Beauty’ Review: Star- Studded Movie Sucked So Bad Critics Dubbed It As The “Ugliest Movie Of 2016”

In one word "Collateral Beauty" sucked. Critics called it an "unholy mess" and "the ugliest movie of 2016."

Granted that the film has a star-studded cast from Will Smith to Helen Mirren. However, it seems like even the stars of the show can not save this film.

"It's near impossible to make a movie with no redeeming features but damned if Collateral Beauty doesn't hit the zero-star jackpot. The unholy mess that director David Frankel and screenwriter Allan Loeb have unleashed for the holidays strands an all star cast on a sinking ship that churns the waters from absurd to zombified with frequent stops at pretentious," Rolling Stone reported.

Well, that review kind of hurt but it does not stop there. According to the site, the movie is like the "Christmas Carol" except it has no warmth or wonder. The site stressed that the movie is enough to make a Scrooge out of a viewer.

"Collateral Beauty's" bad review did not end there, Collider called it not one of the ugliest movie in 2016 but the ugliest movie of this year. "The movie is a 97-minute slow motion car crash where every single choice is ill-conceived, cheaply played, painfully obvious and totally disingenuous. The film isn't just mawkish and maudlin, although it's certainly played for a maximum schmaltz," they reported.

The site reported that the movie will offend people who dealt with grief and depression. They stressed that there are no sympathetic character in the film.

People who are supposed to be the lead character's friends resort to cruel deception. The movie does not honestly deal with relationships. The site stressed that movie offers nothing but "platitude and smug self-satisfaction."

"Collateral Beauty" is about Howard, played by Will Smith, an executive in an ad agency who lost his child. To cope with his grief, Howard writes letters to Love, Death and Time. He was surprised when personification of Love, Death and Time showed up to help him deal with his grief.

The movie probably takes the cake as the most disappointing movie of the year topping "Ghost In the Shell." According to Jobs & Hire, critics still has hope for the live adaptation of the anime film but sadly with "Collateral Beauty" they do not have it.
