An Instagram account surfaces on social media that uses close up photos of nipples in protest of female’s nipples regarded as nudity.
"Genderless Nipples" was founded by Morgan-Lee Wagner, Evelyne Wyss and Marco Russo. This account @genderless_nipples, uses nipples of both men and women to show that every nipple is a nipple. "Men are allowed to show their nipples, women's get banned," and also “Support ALL genders! Let's change this policy!” is stated in their account’s bio.
Nylon stated that this account advocates the nipples that all people share in common, be it a man or a woman. Every person has a nipple so there is no reason to ban female nipples in the world. The account is already close to gaining 15,000 followers in pursuit of the movement.This account uses shaved hair around the nipple areas so people wouldn't know if they are a man or a woman's nipple.
Furthermore, Teen Vogue reported that the account, being inspired by #FreetheNipple campaign, was triggered by politicians' sexist messages so they have come to the conclusion that how would be sexism eradicated if a simple female nipple is thought about as nudity already.
Evelyne Wyss, one of the account's owners, responded that the page has been receiving positive reviews ever since. "We got over 100 emails with nipples from people supporting the cause, we are gaining a lot of followers each day and people seem very interested," stated in her email with Teen Vogue. "People are debating and talking; we [sparked] a conversation, [and] that's exactly what we want."
Meanwhile, Instagram rules that are applied is that they would remove images that show buttocks or exposed genitals. But regarding images of nipples, they still have a sexist issue with allowing man nipples shown and female nipples banned. Of course with the exception of breastfeeding women and breasts with post-mastectomy scars. With having the account established, they have already challenged this general rule and breached through the media with having their posts unidentified whether if it is a man or a woman.
It just only took days when Instagram took down one of their photos saying it has violated "Community Guidelines" saying that the image came from a person identified as a male. This ironic action then made the @genderless_nipples page initiate power more to remove female nipples ban.
