‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Update: Rey Battles Ach-To Sea Monster In Upcoming Film

Filming on “Star Wars: Episode 8” has already wrapped, and now fans are waiting to see if spoilers will leak out on the next installment of the hit movie franchise. The latest leak indicates that Rey (Daisy Ridley), who traveled to Ach-To to find Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in “The Force Awakens,” is going to battle a massive monster in the next film.

Making Star Wars has the scoop on “Star Wars: Episode 8,” and it was said that Luke, who appeared to be seemingly alone in Ach-To in “The Force Awakens,” is not the only inhabitant of the island. In the upcoming film, fans will see the Jedi as he shares the island with other creatures that have never been seen before in the “Star Wars” universe. These creatures have accepted Luke as their protector of sorts, while Rey has to be permitted to be on the island.

According to the site, Rey will earn the right to stay in Ach-To and train as a Jedi as “Star Wars: Episode 8” will have a sequence wherein she fights a large sea monster, and that her killing the abomination grants her permission to be on the island. It was also said that Rey will be wearing a black cloak during this sequence, which is a change from her look in the 2015 film.

Meanwhile, some of Ach-To’s creatures have become close to Luke during his self-imposed exile, and these beings are said to be modeled after puffins that inhabit Skellig Michael in the real world. The creatures in “Star Wars: Episode 8” are said to have sharp teeth, and are described to be a combination of a puffin and a Furby toy, mixed with a “Star Wars” element. It was also noted how these creatures are equally terrifying and adorable.

Along with Ridley and Hamill, “Star Wars: Episode 8” will see the return of Carrie Fisher as Leia, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, John Boyega as Finn, and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron. Though details about the full cast and the plot have been kept under wraps, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that fans can expect to know more about the movie in Spring 2017.

According to Moviepilot (via Gamespot), Kennedy said, “We’re giving [‘Rogue One’] a little bit of breathing room. And then probably heading into spring, you’ll start to see things [about ‘Star Wars: Episode 8’].”

“Star Wars: Episode 8” opens in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
