James Gadolfini, Cory Monteith, and three others will be featured in the traditional Emmys 'In Memoriam' segment for industry members who have died and will be honored in separate memorial tributes, organizers confirmed, Huffington Post reported Monday.
The Emmy Awards will feature five special memorial tributes for high-profile TV stars who died last year including one for 'The Sopranos' star James Gandolfini and another for 'Glee' actor Cory Monteith during this Sunday's telecast.
According to the organizers, aside from the traditional 'In Memoriam' segment, the award show will offer separate and individual tributes to James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Cory Monteith, Jonathan Winters, and Jean Stapleton, and each will be delivered by close friends.
James Gandolfini will be honored by 'The Sopranos' co-star Edie Falco. Gandolfini died in June at age 51 due to a heart attack.
Monteith, died in July at age 31 due to heroin and alcohol overdose, will be honored by the show's Jane Lynch.
Meanwhile other tributes will be presented by Rob Reiner honoring 'All in the Family Star' Jean Stapleton, Robin Williams remembering his friend and mentor Jonathan Winters, and Michael J. Fox honoring 'Family Ties' producer Gary David Goldberg.
"The 'In Memoriam' is a very emotional and evocative segment for the Emmys, or any annual awards program," Emmy telecast executive producer Ken Ehrlich said in a statement.
"These five individuals brought us such great entertainment and joy, so having their close friends share personal remembrances is something that will be very meaningful for television audiences across the country and across the generations," Ehrlich added.
New York Daily News reported that Ehrlich was one of the first producers who enhanced the 'In Memoriam' segment by adding a live musical component when he oversaw the Grammys back in 2003.
Ehrlich said the Emmys remembrances won't diminish the importance of other industry stars who will be honored in the regular segment.
Neil Patrick Harris is reportedly hosting the television awards ceremony on CBS this Sunday.
