DeMarcus Cousins Hit It Bad: Suspended For One Game And Fined $25,000

Sacramento Kings center, DeMarcus Cousins, hit it really bad this time. NBA gave disciplinary actions for Cousins regarding two separate incidents. He was fined with $25,000 and also suspended to play one game without pay.

NBA reported that Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, announced last Tuesday Cousins’ suspension due to his 16th technical foul of the season. The incident happened on Monday’s game wherein there were only 1.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter of the Kings’ 112-107 loss to Chicago Bulls.

The decision made was based under NBA rules. A coach or a player will automatically be suspended for one game without pay once he reaches his 16th technical foul during a regular season. And every two additional technical fouls received throughout the remainder of the season entails automatic suspension for an additional game.

On top of his suspension, Cousins was also fined with $25,000 for “making an inappropriate statement and gesture” after Kings’ 109-106 victory game against the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 4. A video was shown in the report made by CBS Sports wherein Cousins’ was seen raising his two middle fingers and at the same time saying “F*** Golden State.”

According to The Sacramento Bee, Dave Joerger, Cousins’ coach is there to back him after NBA’s disciplinary actions were given. When asked about Cousins’ maturity after what happened, Joerger said that “We all still make mistakes.” And also added that even he made a mistake during Monday night’s game.

Although Joerger thinks that rest of the season will be a challenge and test for Cousins. However, he believes that Cousins will continue to grow and develop even more his leadership skills for the betterment of the team regardless of what happened.

“I think he’s improved his leadership qualities, helps his teammates, getting guys in the right spots and facilitating,” says Joerger. He continued and said that “you just see the leadership growing in him.”

Meanwhile, Jobs & Hire reported that Cousins’ was involved in some trade rumors wherein he is said to be heading to Denver Nuggets before the NBA trade deadline this month.
