A Danville pawn shop shooting took the lives of 3 people, including the store owners, who were shot to death Friday morning at ABC Gold in Danville, Kentucky. Police are suspecting a possible robbery, SFGate reported Sept. 20.

The owners of a Danville pawn shop in Kentucky and a Richmond man have been shot to death Friday morning at the downtown store, and police are now investigating for a possible robbery.

"The shooting victims were pawn shop owners Michael and Angela Hockensmith," Boyle County Coroner Don Hamner told the Lexington Herald-Leader, adding that the third Danville pawn shop shooting victim was a 60-year-old man from Richmond.

According to Examiner, the identity of the Richmond man is yet to be disclosed after his family has been notified by officials.

The Richmond Register reported that the Danville pawn shop shooting took place at the ABC Gold, Games and More store, according to Danville Police Chief Tony Gray.

Gray added that a 9-year-old child, who was also inside the store at that time with another 18-month-old child, had called the police after the shootings were over at around 9 a.m. CDT. Police said the two were left unharmed by the culprits.

The children, later identified as the kids of the store owners, were placed under the care of their grandparents Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a few reports noted that a nearby college was put on lockdown and that police had asked residents to stay away from the downtown area when the Danville pawn shop shooting happened.

Reports stated that eyewitnesses spotted a mysterious suspect wearing a hoodie leaving the scene on a bike.

On the other hand, officials were reportedly looking for a "40- to 50-year-old heavy-set white man wearing a green camouflage-type jacket." the man allegedly exited through the store's garage door in the back and rushed to the alley between the pawn shop and another establishment.

Gray asked anyone who had seen this man to call Danville police as soon as possible.

According to The Richmond Register, the store was locked when authorities arrived and they even had to break in to get inside the pawn shop, where three bodies and the two children were found.

Police notified Centre College officials that they could lift the lockdown before noon.

"It looked like a ghost town for a while on campus," Centre communications Director Michael Strysick said, adding that students were asked to stay indoors for about two hours amid the Danville pawn shop shooting.
