Amanda Bynes DUI Charges Moves To Mental Health Court

Actress Amanda Bynes DUI case will now be moved and referred to a mental health court. This is due to the request of the actress' attorney who claims that the former Nickelodeon child star is not fit to understand the proceedings at this time. The judge for the case decided on the motion this Tuesday.

Amanda Bynes was not in court with her attorney, because, as her attorney reasoned, she is not mentally fit to attend the proceedings. Now, it is up to the mental health court to decide if the actress is indeed competent enough to stand trial.

Bynes was charged with a suspicion of DUI and arrested last April 2012. She allegedly clipped the back corner of a police sheriff's vehicle when she attempted to pass over it at around 3 a.m. in the morning. The incident occurred in West Hollywood.

This was not the only odd behavior that was recorded from the actress. Besides a string of driving and vehicle-related problems, Miss Bynes also made headlines due to some Twitter outbursts that she made, as well as other strange behaviors.

Amanda Bynes was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold after she allegedly started a small fire in someone's driveway. The hold was originally only supposed to be for 72 hours, but it has since been extended to a full year.

The 27 year old actress' personal finances, as well a her well-being are currently under her mother's control. Currently, the mother has a temporary conservatorship of her daughter.

Amanda Bynes' next scheduled court appearance for her DUI case is not slated to happen until January 7 of next year.

Until then, we may have to hold on to our hats and watch intently at what stunts Miss Bynes will try to pull off next.
