Georgia was recently ranked No. 10 by WalletHub among the top states with job markets that are bouncing back post-COVID. As of October 2021, the state's unemployment rate was 3.1 percent, compared to 5.9 percent at the same time last year.

Thousands of New Jobs Added
In October, Georgia added 21,000 new jobs, one of the strongest on record for the state, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Retail, warehousing, and transportation saw the most hires, and with about 300,000 positions still open across the state, there are plenty of jobs still waiting to be filled, the publication reports.
While the Atlanta metro area may be the hottest spot for jobs, in October, Augusta recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2.8 percent, down from 5.2 percent a year ago.
Employers are recruiting and filling critical positions throughout the state to prepare for the strong holiday employment season.
Higher Pay and Bonuses
Higher hourly pay and even signing bonuses are being offered in order to attract the best talent, a solid sign that the job market in Georgia is bouncing back. A move here brings a good chance to get yourself a raise if you have the skills and experience.
Big Companies and Small Businesses
Georgia is home to big companies like Amazon, The Home Depot, and Wellstar Health System, some of which have over a thousand job openings, but small businesses are hiring too. Fortune 500 Companies
It doesn't hurt that this state continues to rank among the top in the U.S. for Fortune 500 companies. It's home to 18 of the top 500 and 33 of the top 1,000, including Delta Air Lines, Coca-Cola, and UPS, which have a wide range of job opportunities.
Drawing even more businesses here, Georgia is often rated among the top of best states per business, including Site Selection magazine, which placed it at No.1. for eight consecutive years from 2013 through 2020.
The Entertainment Industry
Georgia is one of the largest when it comes to feature films produced in the country, although Atlanta is at the center of it all. It's become a hotspot among the entertainment industry, booming thanks to productive incentives like tax credits. Tax incentives were introduced in 2002 and strengthened in 2008, something that's helped the state weather the storm of the pandemic.
Turner Studios, Pinewood Atlanta Studios, EUE/Screen Gems Studios, and Tyler Perry Studios are attracting many productions in need of a skilled workforce. Just a few of the movies that have been shot here include 2008's "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns" and multiple Marvel Studios productions like the "Avengers" series.
Of course, all seasons of "The Walking Dead" have been filmed throughout Atlanta and primarily in Senoia, now known as "Walking Dead Country." All of that filming also draws plenty of fans to visit the state, boosting the hospitality and tourism industry as well.
