Several years ago, workplaces designed for millennial employees mostly offered flexible working hours, on-site amenities, and free snacks. Years later, these companies have been forced to change. Millennial workers are staying away from companies without pet-friendly policies.

Banfield Pet Hospital recently did some research about pet-friendly working environments. During the study, the organization asked over one thousand HR managers and employees about the effects of being pet friendly. Over 75% of these people said that pets helped create the perfect work and life balance, improve the working relationship between employees, and improve productivity.

Millennials prefer to marry later in life. Most of these people delay having children, so they tend to have pets inside their houses for company. The millennial community feels content and secure when they are allowed to bring their pets to their workplace.

Some companies do not allow pets in their environment. A majority, however, have decided to let them because the advantages outweigh the challenges. Companies allowing their millennial workers to bring pets enjoy the following benefits:

Better Employee Morale

Most pets can improve the moods and happiness of everyone around them. A dog, for instance, will ensure that you reduce your stress levels significantly. When millennials have their favorite companion all day long, the employer will never have to worry about burnout.

Improved Employee Collaboration

Pets such as dogs will make your workers start a conversation in the office. When there is a dog in the working environment, the employees will approach one another. The pets are very effective in reducing office gossip among the workers too. It will be easy for the employees to speak about the dogs than their colleagues.

Workout For Employees

When people work in a busy environment, it is easy for them to get into work activities early in the morning without stepping out for fresh air. These workers remain in just one position all day while trying to meet strict deadlines.

In the presence of a dog in the workplace, employees have to take breaks from work to take the pet out for a walk. Going for a walk with the dog helps the employees to refresh their minds and remain physically fit. It will be easy for workers to concentrate and perform better; therefore, everyone benefits.

Time Flexibility

Most pet owners working away from their pets have to rush home at the end of a shift to be home on time. These people know that they have to let their pets out for some fresh air. However, when their pet is with them at work, it is easy for the workers to extend their working time until everything is done. Employees then do not have to restrict their working time because they have their companions around.

For new businesses, workers have to be in the office for long hours. The best way to keep pet owners content and happy while working long hours is to have the pet close to them. Do not compromise the productivity of your workers because of their pets!

Financial Advantages To The Workers

Companies have to incur considerable costs when paying employee benefits for everyone. When employers offer the benefit of bringing pets to work, employees won't need to spend all that money that otherwise would have been spent on pet daycare. Dog walking services are not cheap for millennials.

Attract And Retain Top Talent

Attracting millennials to your company can be a complicated affair. These people love a dog-friendly working environment. You might be surprised to find that millennials would work for a lower salary just to be around their pets. Remember that these groups treat their pets like their children.

Besides allowing employees to bring their pets to work, an employer can go a step further and give their employees a much-needed National Pet Day Off, which will be on 11 April. There is nothing that millennials love better than an understanding boss, and you can be sure that letting them take this day off will improve your working relationship.
