Pakistani Quake Strikes Again Following First That Killed 400 [VIDEO]

Another Pakistan earthquake struck again following its first, last week, that killed 400 people, BBC reported Saturday.

A 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the same region of Pakistan, where nearly 400 people had died due to a quake a week ago.

The new quake hit remote Awaran district, and about 12 were reportedly killed while many others remain buried under rubble.

A Pakistani official told the country's national television that in communications damaged by last week's quake had already been cut off.

Meanwhile, efforts aimed at helping thousands of homeless people are currently struggling due to broken roads and separatists.

According to the US geological Survey, the tremor was at 6.8 magnitude, and it could be felt even across Balochistan province.

The Meteorological Department of Pakistan classified the second quake as an aftershock measuring 7.2 magnitude.

Deputy Commissioner of Awaran District Abdul Rasheed Baloch said that a village called Nokjo suffered damage to most of its buildings, which left people buried under large debris.

"The telephone system has been damaged and we are not able to talk to someone and find out the exact information about the losses... but we have reports of severe losses in that area," Baloch told the national television.

Officials confirmed that eight of the 12 who died due to the second quake were from Nokjo while the other four were killed in the Mashkay area.

Reports stated that patients of the first quake were in panic at a hospital as the second tremor struck.

An office worker said, "At first I thought it was a delusion or a false feeling. But all my colleagues ran out of the office. The shakes were heavy."

BBC reported that Pakistan's official paramilitary force, the Frontier Corps, is currently leading the rescue and relief operations for the victims, adding that thousands of soldiers are already deployed in the area where the second quake struck.
