Former Nanny Claims Being Alanis Morissette’s Hostage, Demands $130,000

The 90's rock icon, Alanis Morissette is now facing a lawsuit filed against her by former nanny. The latter claims that the Grammy Award winning singer and her rapper husband, Mario "Souleye" Treadway, held her as a prisoner.

Bianca Cambeiro was hired by the couple to care for their newborn son Ever. She mentioned that she was locked inside the baby room and was not allowed to take breaks during her 12-hour shift. The only time that she was able to go to the washroom was when the couple is inside the nursery room or the dayshift nanny arrives. She was reprimanded to leave under any circumstance and denied of meal breaks.

Cambeiro worked for the 39-year old "You Ought To Know" singer from August 2011 until March 2013, from 9pm to 9am at least three to four times a week. She said that she was not paid overtime accordingly. She also claimed that she worked for seven straight days in different occasions to accompany the Morissette on tour.

Together with other nannies, Cambeiro reached out to the singer's accountant regarding over time pay. However, they were given the one line "We don't do that."

Cambeiro was paid $25 per hour. She is seeking for a $130,000 settlement - $30,000 for unpaid overtime and $100,000 for emotional distress. She filed charges before the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Few days ago, the singer was interviewed by Today, where she related her pain when she gave birth to Ever in the eve of Christmas Day in 2011. She chose the "natural" way and sought aid from midwife and a doula instead of a doctor. With the lawsuit, she might have to endure another painstaking process, this time within the courts of law.

Morisette's representative has yet to release an official statement regarding this matter.
