When Was The First Parachute Jump? Google's Doodle Answers

When was the first parachute jump? Is the question Google Doodle answers on October 22, the 216th anniversary of the first successful an public parachute jump.

In 1797, the Andre-Jacques Garnerin made the first parachute descent using a silk parachute at Parc Monceau, Paris.

For this, Garnerin assembled a hot air balloon with an umbrella made of silk he had closed before he ascended. At 3000 feet height, Garnerin let go the balloon and the basket connected to the umbrella fell down before the umbrella opened.

When the 7-meter diameter parachute opened, the basket started to swing violently until it scraped after bumping when it landed. Finally, Garnerin emerged uninjured.

Today, Google celebrates Garnering achievement with a mini game in its front page.
