Lindsey Vonn Postpones Return to Ski Racing

After telling media she hoped to continue on competitive skiing this month, Lindsey Vonn announced she's skipping Saturday's season opening race in Austria.

Lindsey Vonn is still recovering from right knee surgery that will keep her off the World Cup circuit until late November, when she is planning to compete in Beaver Creek race.

"While I physically feel great, I have decided to not race this weekend and instead focus on returning in Beaver Creek," Vonn told Associated Press. "I am confident the extra month of training will ultimately put me in the best position to have a successful season."

"I will go home to Vail and continue my preparation for the Beaver Creek races and my ultimate goal in February! Thanks for the support everyone," Lindsey told Reuters.

Lindsey Vonn is aiming to defend downhill title she got during Sochi Winter Olympics in February.

Last Februray, Lindsey Vonn injured her anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in a crash she suffered at the Alpine World Ski Championship in Schladming, Austria.
