Welcome to the Christian World, Prince George! The beautiful son of Prince William and Kate Middleton joined the 2-billioin Christian population in a small and reserved ceremony today at St. James' Palace.
The royal baby, son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had his christening today which were attended by the royal family's close friends and several members of the family. The three-month-old chubby and handsomely cute infant wore a lace gown for his christening, and mom, Kate Middleton matched her baby's outfit with a cream-colored tailored suit from Alexander McQueen. The Chapel Royal of St. James' palace was attended by a small group of 22 visitors, including 7 godparents.
The newly-born prince looked cheerful and calm on his christening, even waving to his great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, 87 when his father, Prince William handed him to Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who performed the royal baptism.
By now, it is no surprise how the Duke and Duchess like to veer away from tradition, and they showed another non-traditional act by selecting godparents without blood ties to royal families. Only award-winning equestrienne and William's cousin, Zara Philips, was the blue-blooded godparent. Catherine and William selected 6 close childhood and university friends as their son's godparents.
After the baptism service, Prince Charles and wife Camila, the Duchess of Cornwall, held a small tea gathering at the Clarence House, while the other guests were served slices from the Baptismal cake-which was a preserved tier from William and Kate's wedding. Catherine and sister, Pippa, both read passages from the bible during the service.
The bubbly 3-month-old prince's baptism was celebrated all over the nation, with Royal Mint christening coins already issued. Those interested can purchase the coin for as low as 13 pounds, with the heavier versions containing 1 kilogram of gold for 50,000 pounds.
