Kelly Rowland's biological father Christopher Lovett, 67, said he was separated from her daughter when her mother Doris left him and Kelly was seven years old. Now, he would like to recover the time he lost starting over a new relationship with her daughter.
During an interview with America's Star magazine, he said years have passed quickly, he is feeling old and he would like to "get her back to his life before is too late".
"I used to have an alcohol problem when she was young and wasn't able to control my temper," he said. "I shouted at my wife in front of our child, but I hope I can make amends for my past mistakes."
Christopher told America's Star magazine he has been trying to get in touch with Kelly Rowland, who became a world famous pop singer as part of Destiny's Child band side by side with Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams.
"Doris left me, she took Kelly with her and leaving no forwarding address," he said.
Lovett said "whenever the band was on the cover of a magazine" he would call and beg them to tell her he was looking for her.
"I love you with all my heart," Lovett also wanted Kelly Rowland to know.
