Apple iPad Air Vs. Nokia Lumia 2520: Comparison Review of Best Specs, Features & More!

The battle for tablets is officially on, given all these sudden release of portable devices from almost every techie company. But it is undeniable how other companies outshine other brands and here we are going to see which company beats the other when it comes to their holiday tablet offering. In a nutshell, let us take a look at the advantages of the Apple iPad Air over Nokia's first ever tablet, the Lumia 2520, and vice versa.

Apple iPad Air over Nokia Lumia 2520

The latest iPad has overtly lost weight. And we are sure that it's a good thing since the device now weighs less than its predecessors, and even looks slimmer and thinner than Apple's earlier instalments. Nevertheless, there is always one thing that never seem to change in Apple's most sought after tablet device, its clear and vibrant display. At 264 ppi, the 9.7" LED-backlit IPS LCD touchscreen beats Nokia Lumia 2520's 10.1" Ah-IPS LCD, which is at 244 ppi only. But then again, you can't really tell the difference until you put them side by side in a not so brightly lit room.

In terms of processor, we are also handing it to Apple's all-new iPad Air, which flaunts a dual-core A7 64-bit at 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) chip with M7 motion processor. Nonetheless, Nokia also did great by sporting its techie tablet with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 at quad-core Krait 400 at 2.2GHz and Adreno 320 GPU. Although in terms of core power the Lumia takes the lead, the iPad Air's A7 64-bit chipset works more impressively in some aspects such as handling much heavier graphics.

One thing that sets Apple iPad Air from the Nokia Lumia 2520 is the fact that it comes with a more premium OS. The iOS 7.0.3 is just the best Apple OS for its tablets so far. Meanwhile, we are somehow questioning Nokia's decision to settle for Windows 8.1 RT and not have the Pro version instead.

When it comes to in-built storage, the iPad Air obviously takes the lead, having 4 different versions: 16/32/64 and 128GB. On the contrary, the Lumia 2520 comes only with standard 32GB of internal storage. Of course, this is not considering the fact that the Nokia tablet device has expandable memory options.

Nokia Lumia 2520 over Apple iPad Air

The Lumia 2520 packs a lot of perks in its relatively thin and very handy build. And some of them even outshine their counterparts in Apple's iPad Air. First is the 6.7MP with auto focus ZEISS optics and the 2MP HD front-facing shooter of the Lumia 2520. These cameras simply knock out Apple's 5MP auto-focus cameras and 1.2MP secondary camera capable of FaceTime calls.

Unlike the iPad Air which only has LTE capability on certain versions, the Nokia Lumia 2520 sports various connectivity options including quad-band 2G, penta-band 3G, and LTE on its standard model. One does not need to go through the motions in bringing in extra cash just to avail the LTE or cellular connectivity such as the case when planning to buy an iPad Air. Nokia ensures everyone that the tablet they get from the company comes with these connectivity options out of the box.

In terms of clarity and loudness of sound, the Nokia Lumia 2520 outshines Apple's tablet device. The former packs in stereo front-facing speakers that undeniably gives the upper hand to the device when it comes to producing louder and much clearer sound functionality.

Finally, although we are not sure about Apple's claim that the smaller battery size of the iPad Air will not in any way affect the 10-hour battery life of the new device, we are already giving this round to the Nokia Lumia 2520, for the very fact that it sports a 8,000 mAh battery, one that is said to last longer with 12-15 hours minimum battery life.
