This season is the season for egg nogs, fruit cakes, and cronuts! As delicious as cronuts may be, not all of us know how to make this Christmas treat. No worries, here's a recipe which can help you make the best cronuts ever!

What You'll Need:

  • milk (60ml)
  • caster sugar (30g)
  • dried yeast (6g)
  • bowl of vanilla sugar
  • cold, diced butter (150g)
  • strong flour (125g)
  • 1 lemon
  • warm water (65ml)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • creme patisserie
  • bowl of icing sugar
  • plain flour (125g)

How to Make Cronuts:

Step 1: Get a huge bowl. Whisk the milk and then add water and yeast.

Step 2: Mix the cold butter and the flour in your food processor until it achieves a breadcrumb-like consistency. Stir in the sugar and the salt. Knead with your hand to have a dough. Cover this with clingfilm and let it sit for at least 2 hours

Step 3: Roll the dough on a flat, floured surface. Aim for a rectangular shape with at least 1cm thickness. Fold the dough in two thirds and let it overlap with the other corner. Turn the dough 90 degrees and repeat the last step. Cover again with clingfilm, let it sit for at least four hours.

Step 4: Roll out the dough and pound until you have a thickness about 1/2cm. Use cutters to shape doughnuts. Let them rise for an hour.

Step 5: Fry the doughnuts in a pan with at least 170 degree Celsius for 2 minutes. You should achieve a golden brown color.

Step 6: Let the doughnuts dry and toss in the vanilla sugar as they cool. Inject the vanilla custard into the doughnuts to have a glace icing.

There you have it! The recipe for the best cronuts ever. Of course, you can add some variations to the recipe according to your preference.
