New Year Twins Born One Year Apart

Yes! You read it right! New Year's Eve pave the way to the birth of twin babies who are now to celebrate their birthdays in separate years. Yahoo! News reported about the New Year twins born to the world in two different years: one in the final minutes of 2013 and the other in the first minutes of 2014.

According to the report, Yaleni Santos Tohalino gave birth to her twins one New Year's Eve at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. She gave birth to baby girl Lorraine Yaleni Begazo on Dec. 31, 2013 at exactly 11:58 p.m. and on Jan. 1, 2014 at exactly 12:01 a.m., she gave birth to Lorraine's twin brother Brandon Ferdinando Begazo.

Lorraine weighed at 6 pounds, 4.9 ounces while Brandon weighed at 5 pounds, 10.4 ounces.

"I feel wonderful full of joy and happiness and a full sense of realization," Warren Begazo, the father of the twins told ABCNews.com. "This is her first children ever, and they're beautiful and she's really happy."

Interestingly, another mother in Toronto gave birth to two fraternal twin sisters in separate years as well. According to Yahoo! News, Lindsay Salgueiro gave birth at Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley Hospital to Gabriela Salgueira on Dec. 31, 2013 at 11:52 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lindsay gave birth to the younger twin, Sophia Salgueiro, on Jan. 1, 2014 at 12:38 a.m.

"They kind of got that golden ticket. They've got different birthdays," proud mom Lindsay said. "They're going to be best friends for life."

"Not a bad way to end the year and not a bad a way to start the year off," Salgueiro added.
