Peyton Manning One Win Away From Capping Amazing Comeback From Devastating Neck Surgery

Peyton Manning is the man of the hour after Denver Broncos' thoroughly defeated the New England Patriots for the chance to advance to New York and take home Super Bowl 2014.

Manning was all smiles as he was given the AFC Championship trophy from Denver coach John Fox, with the next stop Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New York on Feb. 2.

The football star has been playing near-perfect games under intense pressure of enhancing his Super Bowl legacy and now Peyton Manning's up for the New York championship to try to win his second Super Bowl on his younger brother Eli's home field two years after Eli won his second Super Bowl on what was then known as Peyton's Indianapolis home field.

“Coincidentally, it worked out that way,” Manning said in an interview. “Eli and the Giants played in Indianapolis and we get a chance to play in New York. Our team is excited.”

If Peyton Manning overcomes one last hurdle to secure the Vince Lombardi Trophy in two weeks, it will cap one of the most amazing comebacks in Super Bowl history.

Peyton Manning had undergone major neck surgery before the 2011 season which was already the fourth procedure performed on his neck. The series of major surgeries jeopardized Manning's career so much so that even his younger brother Eli was worried his career was over.

“I think with Peyton, not much surprises me anymore,” Eli said just shortly after Denver’s 26-16 victory. “He’s got a great mind-set and he was determined to get back and kind of felt that it would happen. Anything he sets his mind to, he usually can accomplish. I had some doubts. I had some worries, for sure. But he stayed strong and fought through it and was really determined to get back to the level he wanted to and probably came back better than ever.”

Majority of Denver Broncos' fans would agree with the younger Manning, as 37-year-old Peyton appears to be better than ever and was at his absolute best against nemeses, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

It seemed as though the battle of the all-time great quarterbacks that fans were expecting on Sunday's game never developed as the Broncos completely dominated the Patriots.

Denver Broncos led by 20 early in the fourth quarter, with Manning single-handedly completing 32 of 43 for 400 yards as well contributing two touchdowns.

Tom Brady threw for 277 yards, half of which only came out in the final 12 minutes of the game, and wasn't sharp early in the first two quarters. He overthrew Austin Collie and Julian Edelman on plays that could have gone for long touchdowns.

It seemed as nothing could stop him as Peyton Manning was on fire on Sunday and even the Patriot's ironwall defense, which lost comerback Aqib Talib in the second quarter, could not stop him.
