Janus Winter Storm Covers the Northeast, 3000 Flights Cancelled [REPORT]

Winter storm Janus continuously sending packs of snow to Northeast on Wednesday, causing flights be cancelled, schools and government offices to closed.

According to Associated Press, there are 3000 commercial flights cancelled on Tuesday in Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. Also, 1400 flights were cancelled nationwide according to flightware.com.

Also, schools in Boston and Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky will remain closed on Wednesday.

Hotels are not enough for the stranded travellers due to flight cancellation.

Janus brought the heaviest snowfall of the season according to CNN. People affected by the storm were expected to stay at home for safety and prevention of colds.

The winter storm has delivered a foot of snow in Philadelphia (13.5 inches), South Weymouth, Mass (15.5 inches) and Manalapan (15.8 inches).

The winter storm is currently moving to New England from Coastal Maine to Cape Cod, providing snow and gusty wind. The condition was expected to continue for the rest of the week bringing freezing temperature on the Northeast.

State of emergency was announced in Delaware, New York and New Jersey Tuesday afternoon. The commuters were requested to avoid driving for road clearing of snow. More than 1,700 will reported to hit the road for clearing.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports say that 15 cm of snow had fallen to Philadelphia, same amount reported in New York.

Roads were reported to have low visibility, increasing risk of accidents. Wind and snow will continue to bring chilling temperature

Office of Emergency Management considers the condition "life threatening" causing the increase number of people suffering from Hypothermia and frostbite.
