NFL Free Agency 2014: Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders Interested In Michael Vick

Michael Vick may have played his final season as a Philadelphia Eagle, but the veteran quarterback is expected to be signed before the start of the 2014 NFL season.

According to reports, several teams have already expressed their interest in acquiring Vick, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, and the New York Jets.

Sources said that Vick is interested in a making a move to the Jets, but general manager John Idzik is reportedly not willing to sign the 33-year-old quarterback at his asking price, leaving the Raiders as the current frontrunner to sign the Virginia native.

"A recent report linked him to the Jets, but league sources believe Jets GM John Idzik would not be inclined to spend in the range it would likely take to land Vick, and regardless, other teams are interested. The Raiders are mulling several veteran quarterbacks, Vick included, and that looks like the best opportunity for Vick to start quickly," CBS Sports recently reported.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the Raiders are inclined to play out next season with Terrelle Pryor as their starting quarterback, but Vick, despite his age, could play a crucial role for Oakland next season.

"Even though he'll be 34 when the season begins, Vick is still a solid option. He perhaps will never be what he was, but the smart move would be to milk him for what he has left during this transitional phase. He still has the legs to force defenses to pay attention, and he has a cannon for an arm they must respect." the San Jose Mercury News noted.

However, the Raiders are now facing stiff competition as the Minnesota Vikings are now considering signing Vick as well after running back Adrian Peterson voiced out his desire to play alongside the 13-year-veteran.

Peterson recently posted on his Twitter that he believes singing Vick will make the Vikings a playoff team next season. It is unknown at this point how Peterson's comment will affect the Raiders' free agency plans.

The Raiders are reportedly desperate in signing a quarterback before the start of next season since Christian Ponder is the lone quarterback on the Vikings' roster.
