NBA Draft 2014 Rumors: Andrew Wiggins Still Top Prospect, Jabari Parker Could Return To Duke After NCAA Tournament Early Exit

Andrew Wiggins has been doubted earlier this season, but the Kansas Jayhawks freshmen is still considered as the best prospect in the highly-anticipated 2014 NBA Draft.

Wiggins started the collegiate basketball season on top of most draft boards, but was overshadowed by teammate Joel Embiid, who spent some time on top of most mock drafts online.

But according to ESPN insider Chad Ford, the 19-year-old guard has been proving that he should be the top pick in this year's rookie draft in June.

"Wiggins has always been the guy in this draft," Ford noted. "There was a month or two early this year where Embiid became a hot name among NBA people because of his size and his quick learning curve, but once he went down with back issues and Wiggins starting taking over, Wiggins moved back into No. 1."

Ford added that Wiggins may have failed to live up to the hype, but his athleticism and scoring ability are enough to convince teams that he is indeed a top-pick worthy player.

"He's an elite athlete, already an amazing defender and he scores so effortlessly," Ford said of Wiggins. "He needs to improve his jumper, tighten his handle and learn how to play in attack mode all the time. But everything else is there and given his work ethic, he's going to improve that jump shot and handle."

Recent reports also indicated that several teams, including the lottery-bound Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic, have Wiggins on top of their draft boards.

Meanwhile, Duke forward Jabari is also considered as a possible first-overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, but rumors indicated that he could skip this year's draft after the Blue Devils suffered an early exit in the ongoing NCAA Tournament.

The third-seeded Blue Devils took a 78-71 loss to the 14th-seeded Mercer Bears in the second round of the tournament.

After the game, Parker allegedly told reporters that his collegiate career is still "incomplete", creating speculations that he could return to Duke next season.
