Stephen Colbert gets lucky after being chosen as the replacement for David Letterman at The Late Show. CBS announced the news about the replacement recently, informing that Stephen Colbert will take the place of David Letterman after his scheduled retirement this coming 2015.
David Letterman was host of The Late show for 21 long years, and he has announced his scheduled retirement just last week on air. While Stephen Colbert is currently the host for Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, which started in October 2005. He was also a cast on The Daily Show for 8 years prior to the Colbert Report
"Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television," CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves said in a statement. "David Letterman's legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today's announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night."
The upcoming successor host of The Late show, Stephen Colbert, expressed his plans that he will not be bringing his Colbert Report character to The Late Show, but will be changing it to a different role. Colbert will still be portraying the geeky, brainy, and amusing person on the show, but will also be doing what David Letterman has been successfully delivering over the past years.
Stephen Colbert has expressed his gratitude for being picked to follow the footsteps of the legendary host, David Letterman. The opportunity given to him also means more responsibilities and a very large shoes to fill.
The announcement of Stephen Colbert replacing David Letterman post as host of The Late Show makes him a very lucky person. We will expect to see him doing the show in 2015 upon the retirement of the longest running late night show host.
