Amazon Plans To Purchase Comixology, A Digital Comic Book Store App, In Attempt To Lure New Genre Of Media Consumers

Amazon plans to purchase the digital comic book store app, Comixology, was announced by the company this Thursday. They will be acquiring the comic store app in attempts to target new genre of consumers in the media world.

The largest online retail store company has not yet revealed the terms of their deal with Comixology, but considers it to be one of the highest grossing non game iPad app in 2013.

Comixology is a lot identical with iTunes and Kindle store, but it only sells comic books. The app has 50,000 comics on its list that users can buy though their online store. Purchased digital comics can be read through a computer via the internet, or through a mobile device with an installed app. Comixology is available to be downloaded in Apple's iOS App Store, Android's Google Play, Windows 8, or Amazon's Kindle Fire.

Comixology currently features comics from 75 different publishers, and independent sources. The app generates money from every comics that they sell through commission basis. Comic creators can also publish their works through the company's self-publishing platform, and they can also earn money from every sale their comics make.

Amazon's vice president David Naggar issued a statement that says "Amazon and Comixology share a passion for reinventing reading in a digital world"

Amazon plans for the puchase of the digital comic book store app, Comixology, involves actions to improve the company by growing the business and pushing it forward to a more wider range of consumers. The company wants to be part of spreading comics and graphic novels to a larger audience of readers. The purchase of Comixology will be a great addition to the Amazon's own Kindle Fire, it will also provide its current and new consumers more selection of comics, books, novels, and more.

Comixology will still retain its company after the purchase, and will work as a subsidiary for Amazon, based on the confirmed reports fro the post of Comixology CEO David Steinberger.
