Jodie Arias, the 33-year-old former waitress, faces additional criminal charges for the violent murder of her boyfriend

The 33-year-old former waitress Jodi Arias was convicted of a first-degree murder in May 2013 for the 2008 killing of her one-time boyfriend in Arizona, but jurors couldn't reach a decision on a sentence at that time.

However, at that time jury and jurors were not able to reach an agreement and sentence the woman appropriately. The case that has been pending for years is about to reach a conclusion.  According to the stern laws of Arixona, the jury has the right to place her on a second penalty phase in order to additionally pursue her death sentence.

If this death sentence case does not get approved, it means that she will not be under a death penalty consideration anymore. The alternative would be for the woman to stay behind jail for a prolonged time period of up to 25 years, or that she will spend her lifestime behind the bars.

Arias has fully confessed that she has killed her one-time boyfriend in a home in suburban Arizona. She has justified herself with the words that the act was committed as a self-defence reaction. However, the violence and brutality of the crime leaves little to the imagination.  Boyfriend's throat has been slit and the real version behind the grim crime was the woman's excessive jealousy, which deteriorated after he wanted to end their relationship.

The woman will be back in court for a hearing on Friday.

This case is another one that demonstrated what severe acts of jealousy can do to people. With or without death sentence, the woman will end up in jail for the rest of her life. Her friends, family members and relatives are upset but wait to hear the finalized sentence. On the other hand, the man's relatives hope for a revenge.
