Melissa McCarthy Dies at 43: Report, Obituary on Actress Melissa McCarthy's Alleged Death Surfaced Online Amid 'Fourth of July' Celebrations

Melissa McCarthy is dead at 43. That's what a circulating report and an online obituary is spreading right now amid all the hustle-and-bustle over the "Fourth of July" celebrations.

"Mike & Molly" star Melissa McCarthy has reportedly died, according to a viral news report that is circulating the Web rapidly.

Fans of the TV-Movie actress were then left stunned and shocked as the report continued to spread like wildfire.

An "R.I.P. Melissa McCarthy" Facebook page was said to be created in honor of the celeb's passing, and it quickly attracted nearly one million "likes."

"At about 11 a.m. ET on Thursday (July 03, 2014), our beloved actress Melissa McCarthy passed away. Melissa McCarthy was born on August 26, 1970 in Plainfield. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page," the description of the 'R.I.P. Melissa McCarthy' Facebook page reads.

However, it was found out later on that there is no truth on what the circulating report is claiming. In fact, the said news was from notorious site Media Mass, which is already known for generating and spreading celebrity death hoaxes every now and then.

On the other hand, the circulating obituary was also proven to be fake since it's from Necropedia, a site known for spreading anticipated obituaries of famous Hollywood celebs and TV personalities.

The said obituary is even very questionable since it mentioned that McCarthy has died on July 6, 2014, which is obviously two days from today.

"Melissa McCarthy, born on August 26, 1970 in Plainfield, was an American actress and comedienne. She died on July 6, 2014 at the age of 43. Melissa McCarthy has been married to Ben Falcone," the fake obituary reads.

On the other hand, Melissa McCarthy is said to be totally alive and kicking as of the moment. She is even busy promoting her new film "Tammy" which had its initial release on July 2.

McCarthy joins a long list of celebrities who became victims of celebrity death hoaxes.

Most recent stars who reportedly died because of a death hoax include: Charlie Hunnam, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Usher, and Betty White, among others.
