Floyd Mayweather Next Fight Update: Mayweather Believes Rematch with Marcos Maidana Will Be Another Blockbuster

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is expecting another tough fight against Marcos Maidana in their upcoming rematch on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In an interview with Fighthype, Mayweather, who will put his immaculate 46-0 record on the line, said that second showdown will be another blockbuster because both of them want to give their respective fans the kind of fight that they are looking for.

"The first fight was action packed for the first four rounds before I took control. He has the will to win like I do. He's a tough competitor and he has Argentina on his back--and of course I represent the red, white and blue so we must give the fans what they want to see. It's another blockbuster," Mayweather said.

Mayweather, who will defend both his World Boxing Council welterweight and light middleweight titles, was pushed to the limits in their first fight on May 3 before escaping with a majority decision victory.

The reigning pound-for-pound king is expecting another rugged showdown against Maidana, but the second fight will be much easier for him because he knows what to expect, saying that the 31-year-old Argentine will have a similar fight plan and style for the rematch.

"On September 13, I will be faster. I will be stronger. I will be a better fighter. This time around it will be a more exciting fight," Mayweather said. "I think that every time that Maidana has gone out and fought opponents, other opponents and even myself, he's done the same thing. Whereas out of the 45 that I've faced, I was able to do different things."

But for Maidana, who will look to reclaim the WBA world welterweight title he lost in the first fight, the familiarity with each other's style will work well into his favor.

"I don't know if I'd say this will be easier because even the first one, I didn't find very difficult," Maidana said. "I already know him and I think it's a great advantage that I already know Mayweather because he hasn't given a lot of fighters the rematch."
