Sherri Shepherd Gets Very Emotional on Her Last Day on The View, Cracks a joke on Her Expense

Sherri Shepherd gets very emotional as she bid farewell to "The View" this week after seven years as a co-host, she did even crack a joke about her divorce.

After seven years of giving folks the real deal and even being a bit controversial at times, Sherri Shepherd is done with "The View." The comedienne said her final farewell on Monday's show. Alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Jenny McCarthy, guest host Arsenio Hall and her son, Jeffrey, Shepherd recounted all the great memories she had of her time on the show. She also cracked a few jokes about Star Jones, and of course, her headline-making divorce from estranged husband Lamar Sally. In her final speech in the last few minutes of the show, she had this to say:

"When I started 'The View' seven years ago, my [son] Jeffrey was 2 years old, and I was going through a very public divorce. Now, my son is 9 years old, and I'm going through another very public divorce. Let's just say, I'm happy that Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie were better at picking co-hosts than I was at choosing my husbands.

But seriously, I cannot emphasize enough how working on this show has been a dream come true for me. I got to sit across from one of my idols, Whoopi Goldberg. And I lived out my very own sister act working with some of the best women in this business. I was able to talk about my faith on national TV, thank you Jesus! And I got to show people that you can be a Christian and have balance too. I wore more wigs than the law should have allowed, and I got to do the salsa with my dancing partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. I interviewed heads of state and Hollywood hunks, and won an Emmy award for Best Talk Show Host. I got a Emmy!

I talked pop culture and politics, I laughed, I moaned, I cried, but I worked seven long years to prove, I am not Star Jones! I love this place and I love everybody. I love you all but you know what? It's now time for my new View, and I thank you so much for allowing me in your homes for the last seven years. I promise you, I will see you again real soon."

What's next for Sherri Shepherd is the role of evil stepmother Madame in the Broadway production of Cinderella. She will also have a role in the sequel to Ride Along. It might be the end of her seven year stint on "The View," that hit her emotionally, but it's really a new beginning for the 47-year-old TVpersonality.
