Apple Launches iOS 8

Apple Inc has released its latest mobile operating system for download to the general public today, Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

The company first gave the world a glimpse of the new iOS 8 at an Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June this year. Then last week Tuesday, during the unveiling ceremony for the company's latest offerings, the new iOS was made available to developers.

Tech experts say the company has not drastically altered the design of the current operating system, but instead focused on "convergence" and improving its overall functionality. The new iOS 8 nonetheless features many interesting apps, tools and widgets. However, reports indicate that some features of the new update can only be accessed on the unreleased Mac OS X Yosemite. Some of the new features this update has in store are new typing tools, voice messages, health tools, biometric security identification, online text and phone calling ability et cetera.

T ech experts say some people may not be able to upgrade to the new iOS 8 immediately as literally millions of Apple customers would be attempting to access the server at the same time. This was the case when the company's launched the last two iOS updates. Nonetheless, this problem is expected to be significantly less pronounced than in previous releases.

The new operating system is only available for Apple customers with an iPhone 5 or a newer Apple phone model, and an iPad 2 or newer Apple tablet model. However, reports indicate it is compatible with the iPhone 4S.

Many customers have complained of reduced functionality after updating to a new Apple operating system in the past. According to tech experts, this may be the result of trying to update an old iPhone model with an advanced IOS.
