Reporter Quits Job on Air to Support Legalization of Marijuana

A TV reporter in Alaska has revealed that she is quitting her job to focus on her marijuana business during a live show on Sunday.

Charlo Greene, an anchor for Alaska's KTVA, made the statement while covering a report about the impending referendum on the legalization of the popular plant for recreational use in the state. At the end of the report, which was being filmed in the Alaska Cannabis Club, Ms. Green announced that she will be "dedicating all my energy toward fighting for freedom and for fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska."

Campaigners have been clamoring for the legalization of recreational marijuana in the Last Frontier since the 'green rush' caught on the country earlier in the year. The vote, which was postponed from August to November, is expected to settle this contentious topic that has kept the state divided for many months.

The Hollywood style campaign by the reporter has propelled the debate over the impending vote on marijuana in Alaska to the center of international focus. Although she swore live on air while quitting her job, Ms. Greene, whose real name is Charlene Egbe, has told the press that she doesn't think she represented her cause in a bad light.

Meanwhile, Bert Rudman, KTVA News Director, has issued a statement to "sincerely apologize for the inappropriate language used by" the reporter. He further revealed that she has been dismissed from the organization.

Many marijuana activists in the state have reminded the electorates not to be distracted by the brouhaha over Ms. Greene's actions and stick to their resolve to ensure safe and legally sanctioned access to pot for recreational use by the general public. Nonetheless, commentators have noted that Ms. Greene's Alaska Cannabis Club is likely to benefit immensely from her actions.
