U.S. Postal Service to Issue Forever Stamps in Honor of Batman

The U.S Postal Service has announced its plan to immortalize comic superhero Batman with a limited edition postage stamp collection.

The stamps will mark the 75th anniversary of one of the most popular and charismatic comic characters with Warner Bros Consumer Products and DC Entertainment.

The first batch ofthe  Limited Edition Forever Batman Stamp are set to be released in Gotham City on the 9th of October at the Javits Center.

"What a great place to celebrate him-on a stamp. We are always looking for idea and subjects that are important to America," says Susan McGowan, USPS Director of Stamp Services and Corporate Licensing.

The stamps features the protector of Gotham City - Batman - in different signature poses capturing the growth and evolution of the comic book's history over the past 75 years.

"The set includes Batman depicted from the four eras of comic book history as well as the four incarnation of the famed Bat emblem," according to a USPS press release.

One of stamps features the dark knight welding the famous Batman symbol, another with his cape flowing behind as he rushes to fend off crime.

The stamps also depicts Batman in a more classical form, as he appeared when Bob Kane introduced the character to the comic world in March 1939.

Batman is not the first comic superhero to be honored by the USPS; other equally famous characters like Aquaman, Superman and Wonder Woman have all decked postage stamps in the past.

"The U.S.Postal Service has a long history of celebrating America's icons, from political figures to pop-culture's most colorful characters." says USPS Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Nagisa Mtaname.

"We are thrilled to bring Batman off the pages of DC Comic and onto the limited edition Forever Batman stamp collection, making his place in American history," Mtaname said.

Batman has displayed his power to adapt and defend not just Gotham City, but his very existence in the imaginations of several generations of comic lovers around the world.

"Over the past 75 years Batman has captured the imagination of the fans around the world-from comic books to television, film, video games and beyond," says Jim Lee, a well known Comic Book Artist and Co-publisher of DC Entertainment.
