The body of Arkansas realtor Beverly Carter has been found on Monday buried in a shallow grave about 20 miles from where she disappeared in Little Rock.
Carter, a 49-years old wife and grandmother, has been reported missing since Thursday. Investigators believe she was showing a client a house in the area on the day she disappeared.
Reports indicate that her car was found parked in the driveway of the house for sale with her belongings including her purse still intact.
On Sunday, West Little Rock police arrested Arron Lewis, in connection with the disappearance of Carter.
According to Lt. Carl Minden of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, while in police custody Lewis had confessed to kidnapping the real estate agent and initially refused to disclose where she was being held. But he has reportedly later denied involvement in killing Carter.
On Tuesday, while been escorted out of the court, the suspect told the press that "I'm just sorry it all happened." According to Lewis, he only pleaded not guilty because his lawyer put him up to it.
The 33-years old suspect also said he was willing to plead guilty to charges of kidnapping and capital murder saying, "I just want this to be over with."
According to reports, he nodded in the affirmative when journalists asked if he would still plead guilty even if he faced the death penalty.
Reports indicate that the prosecutors will seek the death penality against native of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
Lewis is reported to have told reporters that he attacked Carter "because she was a woman who worked alone, a rich broker." When asked what he had to say to the victim's family, Lewis said he was sorry twice.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased realtor has released a statement saying "We are devastated at the loss of our precious Beverly. There is no a hole in our hearts that will never be filled."
"Mr. Lewis robbed us of an amazing wife, loving mother and grandmother. Her grandkids will never get to know the magnitude of her greatness."
The family went to say "we draw some comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of Jesus," they also thanked everybody who helped in the search for the victim.
According to reports, Carter was the No. 3 ranked realtor in Arkansas. she worked with Crye-Leike Real Estate Service in North Little Rock.
